Paintball markers are the primary instrument of paintballing.
They are euphemistically called “markers” as a way
to show the mainstream that paintball isn’t war-like or
encouraging violence.
Paintballs are held in a hopper on top of the paintball markers.
The loader grabs a ball and positions it in the marker’s
chamber. Pressurized nitrogen or carbon dioxide then propels the
paintball out of the marker and onto the target.
Paintball markers are generally made to not resemble actual weapons,
though some are made specifically to resemble weapons for military
training purposes. These markers are referred to as “mil-sim”,
which stands for military simulation.
