What is a paintball marker?
“Marker” is the word paintball enthusiasts
use to refer to the paintball guns. They are euphemistically called
“markers” as a way to show the mainstream that paintball
isn’t war-like or encouraging violence. Paintballs are held
in a hopper on top of the paintball markers. The loader grabs
a ball and positions it in the marker’s chamber. Pressurized
nitrogen or carbon dioxide then propels the paintball out of the
marker and onto the target.
Why are paintballers required to wear paintball masks?
Paintball masks protect the eyes and face. Some are even
made with throat guards and neck coverings for added protection
in, for example, a cold-weather round of woodsball. Any way you
look at it, masks are required for safety, but most paintballers
agree they would wear masks even if it weren’t required.
What’s the best way to buy your own paintball marker
and other paintball equipment?
Paintball equipment is available online, at large sporting
goods stores, or the local paintball facility’s store. The
best way to buy your own paintball gear is to start by playing
with several different types of rented guns, for example. Then
look online for what you want. You might be surprised at the discounted
prices you will find.
